Q. When will ZENOLOGY Pro and Model Expansions such as the JUPITER-8 be available?

A. Model expansions and ZENOLOGY Pro are coming soon.

Q. How do I access ZENOLOGY?

A. You can access ZENOLOGY with your Roland Account. ZENOLOGY is not available for purchase at this time. For details about the types of ZENOLOGY and how to access them, see the related Q&A “How many types of ZENOLOGY are provided?“.

Q. How many types of ZENOLOGY are provided?

A. There are 2 types of ZENOLOGY as follows.

ZENOLOGY Lite: Can be accessed from Roland Cloud Manager after registration of a Roland Account.

ZENOLOGY: Can be accessed from Roland Cloud Manager with any paid Roland Cloud membership.

- Information on memberships including instructions on how to join Roland Cloud can be found here: http://www.rolandcloud.com/roland-account/memberships

Q. Can I use ZENOLOGY as an editor for products that are equipped with a ZEN-Core sound engine?

A. No, ZENOLOGY cannot be used as an editor.

Q. Which plug-in formats are supported?

A. The following formats are supported: VSTi 3.6 (64-bit), AU, AAX (note: VST2 is not supported)

Q. Is the installer the same for the free version (ZENOLOGY Lite) as for the paid version (ZENOLOGY)?

A. Yes. The installer itself is the same. The free version (ZENOLOGY Lite) and paid version (ZENOLOGY) are distinguished by the Membership tier that you choose.

Note: The function of the free version (ZENOLOGY Lite) is limited.

Q. In the Mac version of Cubase, ZENOLOGY does not appear in my plug-in list.

A. Cubase might have been started in 32-bit mode. Exit Cubase and start it again in 64-bit mode (Note: ZENOLOGY supports only 64-bit mode. For details on how to start in 64-bit mode, refer to the Cubase owner's manual).

Q. What kind of CPU efficiency can I expect from ZENOLOGY?

A. The CPU usage depends on the individual sound you choose. If noise occurs when you use a 'high-load' sound, click the [MENU] button and choose the 'Voice Limit Heavy' setting.

Q. For DAW software that supports both the VST version and the AU version, which should I use?

A. We recommend using the AU version.

Q. How do I restore parameters to their default values?

A. Windows: Hold down the [Ctrl] key and click the knob/slider whose parameter you want to reset to the default value.

Mac: Hold down the [command] key and click the knob/slider whose parameter you want to reset to the default value.

Q. I can't zoom/resize ZENOLOGY. The zoom settings are grayed-out and cannot be selected.

A. In the AAX version or the Windows version, it is only possible to select settings that allow the largest screen used by ZENOLOGY (Tone/Drum Kit Browser screen). For a multi-display setup, the ZENOLOGY interface follows the resolution of the main display.

Q. The number of sounds shown in the Tone/Drum Kit Browser is limited or is not shown in a keyword search.

A. If you select RECENT or a specific BANK/MODEL/CATEGORY, a limited range of sounds is shown. Search in the following states:

 ・RECENT: unlit

 ・BANK: All

 ・MODEL: All

 ・CATEGORY: All

Q. Is the Rating information included in the IMPORT/EXPORT content?

A. The Rating information is not included in the IMPORT/EXPORT content.

Please refer also to the related Q&A: Which parameters are included in the data exported by the EXPORT for Hardware function.

Q. ZENOLOGY is creating a lot of noise.

A. If you're using an instance of ZENOLOGY that has not been authorized, two seconds of noise will occur every four seconds. Connect to the internet and use ZENOLOGY with Roland Cloud Manager running.

Q. Noise occurs when numerous notes are being played simultaneously.

A. It is possible that your computer is experiencing significant CPU usage. The load will be lightened if you reduce the number of simultaneously played notes by setting the Voice Limit to 'Heavy.' Please refer also to the related Q&A: When I play a chord, some notes are not heard.

Cloud Rap Vst Plug-ins

Q. When I play a chord, some notes are not heard.

A. The polyphony might be limited by the Voice Limit setting. If your computer does not show signs of being excessively loaded, such as noise, try lowering the Voice Limit setting by a step.

For example:

Heavy → Middle

Middle → Light

(Please refer also to the related Q&A: Noise occurs when numerous notes are being played simultaneously.)

Q. Does ZENOLOGY produce the same sounds as are provided on the hardware product?

A. The sounds that are actually heard will differ depending on parameters that are found only on the hardware product, such as scene parameters and effect parameters.

Also, parameters that are edited in ZENOLOGY (CUTOFF, RESO, ATTACK, RELEASE, VIBRATO) are not applicable for export.

Q. Which parameters are included in the data that is exported by the 'EXPORT For Hardware function?'

A. This includes settings other than the tone screen edit knobs (CUTOFF, RESO, ATTACK, RELEASE, VIBRATO) and the Rating. Please refer also to the related Q&A: Does ZENOLOGY produce the same sounds as are provided on the hardware product?

Q. I want to save an edited sound, but the [WRITE] button is not shown.

A. The save function is disabled for free Membership (subscription). If you want to save edited sounds, please subscribe to a paid Membership (subscription).

Q. The preset sound bank shows only 'PRST_A.'

A. For the free Membership (subscription), preset sounds are limited to 'PRST_A.' If you want to use banks other than 'PRST_A,' please subscribe to a paid Membership (subscription) or purchase a Sound Pack/Wave Expansion/Model Expansion.

Q. Which products support Sound Packs/Wave Expansions?

A. For the products and system program versions that provide support, refer to the Support tab of each Sound Pack/Wave Expansion.

Q. Even though the hardware product supports the Sound Pack/Wave Expansion, I am unable to load data.

Additionally, a Soundpack/Wave Expansion that is listed as 'For (hardware product name)' cannot be used with a different product.

Q. I purchased a Sound Pack/Wave Expansion with a Lifetime Key (one-time purchase), but cannot load it into my hardware.

A. Please check the following:

・Are you attempting to load a Sound Pack/Wave Expansion that is limited to a compatible hardware product?

Some Sound Packs/Wave Expansions might be offered at a special price for specific models. Check if the product is followed by a specific product name, such as 'For FANTOM' or 'For RD-88.'

・Does the system program version support it?

Check the Spec for that Sound Pack/Wave Expansion and perform an update if necessary.

・Could a Sound Pack/Wave Expansion that was on a different Roland Account be loaded?

It is not possible to simultaneously load Sound Packs/Wave Expansions that were purchased on a different Roland Account.

If you want to newly load a Sound Pack/Wave Expansion, delete the previously loaded Sound Pack/Wave Expansion.

For details on how to delete data, refer to the owner's manual of each hardware product.

Q. When attempting to load a Sound Pack/Wave Expansion, the message 'Incorrect License! Please Remove License' appears.

A. This error message appears if you attempt to load Soundpacks/Wave Expansions purchased from a different Roland Account simultaneously into the same hardware product.

If you want to newly load a Sound Pack/Wave Expansion, delete the previously loaded Sound Pack/Wave Expansion.

For details on how to delete data, refer to the owner's manual of each hardware product.
Q. How do I use Model Expansions?
A. Either subscribe to the 'Pro' or 'Ultimate' membership, or purchase a Lifetime Key. After installation, you will be able to use it in ZENOLOGY.
Q. The Status field of a Model Expansion indicates 'Re-install'; do I need to re-install?
A. (No.) A Model Expansion that indicates 'Re-install' is already installed, and does not need to be re-installed.

- If a Model Expansion that indicates 'Re-install' is not shown in ZENOLOGY, click 'Re-install' to re-install it.
Q. I installed a Model Expansion during my term of using the 'Pro' or the 'Ultimate' plan, and subsequently purchased a Lifetime Key; what shall I do to use it?
A. Open the Library in Roland Cloud Manager, and click the 'Re-install' in the Status column of the Model Expansion you purchased.
-This procedure applies to all types of ZENOLOGY.
Q. How can a sound that was created using a Model Expansion be exported to hardware using ZENOLOGY's 'EXPORT for Hardware' function?
A. The hardware must support this. Check the update information for your hardware as necessary.
- Including the JUPITER-X/Xm for which a Model Expansion is provided as standard, no hardware supports this as of July 2020.
- When you attempt to export a sound created using a Model Expansion, an error message appears. See also the related Q&A “When I attempt to export a sound that was created using a Model Expansion via ZENOLOGY's EXPORT for Hardware function, an error message appears.”
If a sound that was created using a Model Expansion is exported together with a conventional ZEN-Core sound, only the ZEN-Core sound is exported.
Q. When I attempt to export a sound that was created using a Model Expansion via ZENOLOGY's EXPORT for Hardware function, an error message appears.
A. If you attempt to export a sound that was created using a Model Expansion, or if there is support but the data cannot be written into memory, the following error message appears.
The file could not be saved. Make sure that the media is not write protected, and that there is sufficient free space.

HOW TO USE VST PLUGINS

VST plugins are virtual instruments and effects that you can use in productions. They can recreate classic synth designs, or represent completely new ways of making sound. VST plugins are easy to use; download them, install, and your DAW will pick them up and let you use them in the workstation. From classic instruments to experimental indie gems, there’s a huge world of both paid and free VST plugins to choose from. Native has spent decades creating and developing some of the world’s leading VST plugins with REAKTOR, KONTAKT, KOMPLETE KONTROL, and loads more.

HOW TO USE VST PLUGINS FOR SYNTH SOUNDS

Roland Cloud Vst Plugins Free Download

VST plugins can be used in a wide variety of ways to create synth sounds for songwriting and production. Almost any instrument can be turned into a VST plugin, and more often than not, when you need a certain kind of sound there’s a VST plugin for it. There are several varieties of VST plugins for synth sounds that are worth noting. Polyphonic VST plugins create more than one note at a time, so are great for building complex melodies, chords, and harmonies, while monophonic VST plugins play one note at a time and are commonly used for basslines. Some VST plugins strictly model themselves on reproducing sounds you would expect from analogue instruments, but others go way beyond that. Wavetable VST plugins like MASSIVE and MASSIVE X tend to focus on helping producers create something unusual and completely different to traditional instruments, and can be more useful for experimental productions than other VST plugins.

HOW TO USE MULTIPLE VST PLUGINS

Trying things out and exploring new territory is hugely important when trying to craft something unique, and using multiple VST plugins will give you a wide range of instruments and sounds to work with. Chaining multiple VST plugins together sis a typical way to start crafting a sound you can call your own. Feeding one VST plugin instrument into a VST plugin effect will alter them even further. This is also common with digital production as lots of recording tools come in VST plugin form – there’s no issue with running multiple VSTs at once – simply load them in and start playing. Native offers over 2,000 free sounds and more than 6 GB of free VST plugin content with KOMPLETE START, so if you’re looking for some inspiration it’s a great way to get started.
