Magical 8bit Plugin Vst
- The drums that transition into the strings are white noise blips made by the magical8bit plugin, plus HiHat 1 from the Earthbound SF. The Proteus2 Soundfont’s Solo Violin sample (layered over SGM’s Brass) is the most audible sample during the strings part.
- If you are, then the Magical 8bit Plug may be the perfect VST for you to make some old school electronic music! This is because this VST allows for use of the pseudo-triangle or low-resolution noise, which are key when creating 8 bit or chiptune music.

ESSENTIALS
You must have a 64bit version of Ableton (Live 10 works), 32bit will not work.
The Universal Binary version of Magical 8-Bit plugin for Mac
SET UP
Once you have downloaded the plugin, unzip it and find the magical8bitPlug.component file.
Copy and paste this into your Components directory where you keep your plugins. (My directory is located SSD > Library > Audio > Plug-Ins > Components)
Open Ableton and goto Preferences
Under the File/Folder tab make sure Use Audio Units is on
Rescan your plugins
Everything should be setup now so close the Preferences window
You should now see an Audio Units folder along with your VST folder in the Plug-ins pane in the top left of the main Ableton interface
Expand Audio Units and you should see YMCK, expand this and you should see magical8BitPlug
Drag this in or double click and you are good to go
