Lo-fi seems to be the topic of the day. After AudioThing Wires, there is now Aberrant DSP with a new plugin that brings the beloved lo-fi timbre to your sounds. SketchCassette II is an effect processor that is inspired by vintage 4-track cassette recorders like the Tascam 414. Not only the iconic features of these beloved devices from the past are emulated here, but also the character that the devices have given each audio signal. Initially sold as recorders, they are now unique sound design tools that can add character to tracks.
SketchCassete II recreates all these aspects in one simple plugin for PC & Mac. It is capable of generating lo-fi, wow & flutter, and fully saturated sounds. The developers go further and offer musicians additional features with which you can push your sounds even further into total lo-fi weirdness.

SketchCassette II features 12 unique tape type & quality profiles that give you a wide range of different flavors. With the age modeling control, you can make the plugin sound more modern or older. The older it gets, the dirtier and cheesy the timbres get. Of course, you can use the plugin also as a characterful saturation unit. /cello-vst-plugin-free.html. 2 different models are available, a gentler, and another rather harsher.
Further, it includes tape hiss, dropouts with newly extended stereo width control, and adjustable wow & flutter section. Exactly what you would expect from such an emulation. Aberrant DSP goes one step deeper. An FM mode allows you to modulate the flutter rate with the wow controls. This extends the sonic range of the plugin a lot. Lastly, you have mix controls for tape filtering and compression.
